China paper blasts Western air attacks in Libya
BEIJING (AP) — China's most important political newspaper has ratcheted up the country's criticism of Western airstrikes against Libya, comparing them to the U.S.-led invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Communist Party's flagship newspaper, The People's Daily, says that the United States and its allies are violating international rules. It said in a commentary Monday that in places like Iraq "the unspeakable suffering of its people are a mirror and a warning."
A day earlier, the Chinese government expressed "regret" at the air assault launched over the weekend by U.S. and European forces to enforce a U.N. no-fly zone.
China was one of five countries abstaining from Thursday's U.N. vote that effectively authorized the attacks.

중국 언론 리비아 공습 맹비난
베이징 (AP통신) - 중국의 정치적으로 가장 영향력 있는 인민일보는 리비아에 대한 서방의 공습을 이락과 아프카니스탄에 대한 미국의 침입에 비유하면서 비난의 강도를 높였다.
중국 공산당 기관지인 인민일보는 미국과 동맹국들이 국제적 규율을 어기는 행동을 하고 있다고 했다. 21일의 논평에서 이락에서 처럼 국민들이 당하고 있는 것과 같은 “형용할 수 없는 고통을 격을 것이고 앞으로 벌어질 비극의 예고” 라고 했다.
하루전에 중국정부는 주말에 벌어진 미국과 유럽군의 유엔 비행금지구역 설정을 실행에 옮기기 위한 공습에 대해서 유감의 뜻을 표시했다.
중국은 리비아에 대한 공격을 인가한 17일 유엔 투표에서 기권한 5개국 중의 하나였다.
